Basin Arts is excited to have Guest Teacher, Alex McBride, on the summer class schedule! Alex is originally from Lafayette and brings home professional training and performance experience with companies like the Limon Dance Company, 10 Hairy Legs, and River North to name a few. He is committed to sharing his skills and recent professional successes with the Acadiana community by teaching classes while home for the summer. This is a unique opportunity for dancers throughout the area and we encourage dancers (ages 16+) to come out for his weekly open classes to deepen their training and build our community of performing artists! Also, Alex will be leading a special Modern Dance Workshop for young dancers (ages 10-16). This workshop will meet on Monday’s in June. More info below…

About Alex

Alex McBride is originally from Lafayette, Louisiana where he began his early dance training under the direction of Brandi Holmes at The Dance Place and Mitzi & Shannon Heath at Lafayette Ballet Theater. He went on to receive his BFA from The University of Arizona in Tucson. While in school, he performed works by Jose Limón, George Balanchine, Ohad Naharin, and Larry Keigwin. Additionally, Alex has trained at the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance and River North Dance Company in Chicago. Since moving to New York City, Alex has performed with Randy James’ 10 Hairy Legs and is a current company member with the Limón Dance Company.
