Announcing our new Platform Residency
Are you tired of dancing in your bedroom?
Needing community, accountability, and new creative challenges?
Announcing our first official community residency for dance artists.
The PLATFORM [dance] RESIDENCY
Since opening our doors in 2016, Basin Arts has worked to be “a container for creativity” or a “platform” for artists to incubate new ideas, network with new artists, and foster creative collaboration. The PLATFORM [dance] RESIDENCY aligns directly with our ongoing mission and it’s launch comes as a direct response to serve our growing professional dance community at a time when performance opportunities are limited.
This program will provide a Platform for performing artists to continue weekly dance training along with the space and resources to materialize their own creative practices. By bringing together a community of dancers with various goals, providing access and space, and a semi-structured schedule, we will seek opportunity together on the same Platform.
The Platform Residency schedule will include Modern Class, Tuesdays 10:00-11:30 & Ballet Class, Thursdays 10:00-11:30am; with access to Basin Arts until 6pm for individual research and project development. Additionally, we will host a learning Platform every first and third Sunday of the month, which will include different instructors and professionals in their respected fields.
The Platform Residency will begin on September 14 and last until December 10.
Classes will take place outdoors on the Parc International stage in partnership with Downtown Lafayette. This will provide safety, flexibility, and continued availability to in-person training.
Price for the program will be $300* which includes:
-all Platform specific classes and workshops
-a monthly allocation of studio space at Basin Arts
* We are also offering need-based financial assistance available through a limited work-study program as well as payment plans for artists.
Apply now — and be a part of our first Lafayette-based community residency project!
