I expand my art circle by creating black art
What value do you see in having a creative community?
As a black artist from South Louisiana, having a creative community is incredibly valuable on many levels. Firstly, it provides a supportive and nurturing environment where artists can come together, share ideas, and collaborate on projects. This sense of community fosters a sense of belonging, reducing feelings of isolation that artists might face in their creative journeys.
The creative community also serves as a source of inspiration and motivation. Seeing other talented artists from diverse backgrounds working on their craft can push me to strive for excellence in my own work. It helps me stay connected to my roots and culture, as we often draw from our shared experiences and heritage to create meaningful and authentic art.
How does your artistic approach contribute to your community?
I aim to contribute to my community through my artistic approach by using my platform to amplify voices that are often marginalized or overlooked. I believe art has the power to bridge gaps, fostering understanding and unity. My creations often draw from the rich tapestry of black history and traditions in South Louisiana, showcasing the beauty and resilience of our people.
