Meet Gina Hanchey
Meet Choreographer, Gina Hanchey.
Gina’s dance is inspired by the choreography of a restaurant…from kitchen to dining room.
From kitchen prep to meal presentation, any given night in a restaurant is intricately choreographed with every detail carefully planned out; culminating in a sensory event that still only lasts but a moment. The same can be said about preparing for a dance from rehearsal to the stage. Both the chef and the choreographer share this commitment to a detailed creative process that is ultimately fleeting. After the food has been eaten and the dance has been watched, all that is left is the memory. Dancers include Paige Barnett, Sydni Bourg, Alex McBride and Jennifer Rohloff with original music composed by Chad Faulk of imagineIAm. The piece is in collaboration with Chef Justin Girouard of The French Press.
GINA HANCHEY has been teaching classical ballet for over twenty years and is owner and instructor of The Ballet Academie in downtown Lafayette at 113 Clinton Street. In 2014 she presented an original dance piece, Xibipiio, as a resident artist at the AcA, with local dancers and original music in collaboration with local musicians. When not teaching or choreographing she spends her time writing, home remodeling, hanging out with her family and friends and attempting to be as creative as possible.
