Nicole Curtis is a Lafayette native and a local professional dancer and choreographer. Nicole graduated with a BFA in Performing Arts and a concentration in Dance from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall of 2017. She has participated in numerous dance performances with the University and throughout the community including State of La Danse, An Evening of Dance, ArTech Fusion, STIR, PARADE by Clare Cook, THIRST by Whitney Willis Hebert and SURFACE by Clare Cook. In the fall of 2019, Nicole performed in and co-choreographed alongside Clare Cook, Sharon Leahy, and Whitney Willis Hebert for Basin Dance Collective’s SPORT SUITES. Nicole has participated in numerous dance intensives with dance companies including BODYTRAFFIC in Los Angeles, CA , New Dialect in Nashville, TN, Staibdance in Atlanta, GA, and The Theorist in Austin, TX, Vim Vigor in NYC and multiple Countertechnique workshop. She was accepted to study Countertechnique in Amsterdam in Summer 2019 and in NYC in June of 2022 for the One Body One Career Intensive which aims to educate dancers on sustainable dancing for the length of their careers. In the fall of 2021, she choreographed a site specific dance work titled A SONG OF VISIONS in collaboration with Paige Barnett, and most recently performed in an experimental dance production FOUR LETTER WORD by Paige Barnett and Stuart Welch. Nicole works as a pilates and dance instructor through various styles and techniques, and enjoys teaching students of all ages. She is passionate about spreading the joys of dance and making connections with herself and others through movement.
