With Vinyasa Yoga and Pilates Mat classes you can increase flexibility and strength and these classes are great for all ages and dancers and non-dancers alike. Our Cardio Dance class provides a full 45-minute aerobic, calorie burning experience with easy to follow dance steps along with arm and core exercises to tone and strengthen. The best part, all of our Fitness Focused classes are taught by dancers so you can be sure of clear instruction, great body awareness and fun sequencing to keep you on your toes…but not feel overwhelmed! Vinyasa Yoga with Aerin Higginbotham, Monday’s 6:00-7:00am
This class will get you moving through asana (postures), guided by your breath while cultivating an inward focus. With a gradual building of momentum and awareness the classes are catered to not only seasoned practitioners but also beginners. Experience a class rich with the foundations and teachings of yoga, physically invigorating and opening of the body, as well as meditation.
About Aerin
Aerin completed her yoga teacher training with Lafayette Center for Yoga and is a Registered Yoga Teacher with Yoga Alliance. Aerin’s yoga journey was inspired by a strong background in the art of dance and her constant search for balance. The transformative power of yoga and yoga’s ability to bring balance of mind, body and spirit has kept her a regular practitioner and a lifelong student. Aerin is passionate to share the art of yoga throughout her community in a way that is accessible to all. Her classes focus on breath, compassion, and awareness of the present moment, as well as meditation and acceptance.
Cardio Dance with Nicole Helo, Tuesday’s & Thursday’s 9:30-10:15am
Think old-school jazz class, mixed with aerobics, mixed with zumba and hip-hop, add in a arm work and core work, and you’ve got a complete and completely sweaty workout, all in a fun, non- judgmental environment. Guaranteed to be a fun, high-energy class to make your workout out fly by. No serious dance training necessary. All are welcome!
About Nicole
Nicole began her dance training at the age of three in southwest Louisiana and graduated from DeLarue Dance Centre in 1997, where she was a student for nine years. She worked for DDC for ten years as a dance instructor and graduated from Dance Masters of America Teacher’s Training School in Buffalo, New York. As her family expanded, Nicole stepped out of the dance classroom but has remained active in the art and fitness communities. She was one of the first POUND® teachers in Louisiana and currently teaches speech and drama at Cathedral-Carmel School where she has directed and choreographed several plays and musicals including Godspell Junior, Annie Junior, Dear Edwina Junior, The Lion King Junior, You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, I Never Saw Another Butterfly, and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever.
Pilates Mat with Charley Prejean, Wednesday’s 6:00-7:00am
Each class will work to balance all muscle groups’ strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. Pilates Mat is a challenging yet safe method to sculpt your body and to feel increased agility in your every day movements. Pilates gives your body the strength and agility to deal with the work and joy of living, both physically and mentally. Open to beginners as well as experts!
About Charley
Charley is a business major at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. She attended Teurlings High School where she was a member of the Rebel Revue dance team. During her time on the Rebel Revue, she served as chaplain and captain. Charley has danced for 16 years and was a company member of her home studio, Dance Graphics Inc. for 9 years. At Dance Graphics, she is a staff member where she teaches both elite and recreational dancers. She is currently working on her Polestar Pilates certification and trains clients at Integrated Physical Therapy.
