Since the age of four, dance has provided Sarah with the skills to connect and communicate with others through movement while also building her own confidence.  Sarah loves to explore new forms of movement, but her favorite styles are hip hop and tap. She is grateful to have shared the love and experience of dance with her sister, and excited to continue dancing with the Lafayette community.

Cissy Whipp

Mary Francis “Cissy” Whipp has been working as a performer, choreographer, and dance educator for over 40 years. She recently retired as the Dance Specialist at the J. Wallace James Elementary School for Arts & Technology, where she worked for 19 years. Cissy is thrilled to be a part of the Basin Arts team and share her love of dance with the children in the Modern Dance classes.

Madison Graves is a performance artist and educator based in Lafayette, LA. She has studied many styles of dance, primarily ballet and modern, and received her BFA in Dance from UL. Madison looks forward to opportunities for choreography, performance, and collaboration in the future.

Gina Aswell

Gina began her studies with Hebert Dancentre and Lafayette Ballet Theatre, studying with the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. She has 16 years of experience teaching ballet in both MS and LA and is the ballet master of Basin Arts's resident dance company, Basin Arts Dance Collective.

Jasmine Bertrand-Vale is a ballet and dance teacher in Lafayette, Louisiana and the Director of Bluebirds Ballet Academy. As a second-generation dance teacher, she has been teaching dance for over twenty years.Recognizing that her true passion has always been dance, she is overjoyed to continue the family tradition of sharing her passion and enthusiasm for this beautiful art form to the next generation of dancers.

Since graduating from UL, Lily has been teaching at dance studios all over the Acadiana area, and is now a Teaching Artist with the Acadiana Center for the Arts P.A.C.E. program.
